Where do I start? Greece was always my dream destination; my number one on my bucket list. When my husband and I booked our honeymoon trip back in 2021, I was anxious about leaving the country for the first time. I have watched many scary movies that “showcase” just how dangerous it is to travel worldwide. However, when we landed in Mykonos, I immediately felt safe.
Why Mykonos for honeymooners? Mykonos is a majestic spot. It is perfect for relaxation, nightlife, and independence. I know many of us don’t travel because we are too afraid of what is beyond where we currently reside, but once you do it, you don’t ever want to stop, so you find ways to stay protected and safe. However, when in Mykonos you literally don’t have to be afraid or try to keep safe because it is such a small island that, one, you cannot get lost and, two, everyone who lives there is too busy working, trying to make a living, and everyone who is visiting is just like you, trying to have a good time. I hope that after reading this short blog, you and your spouse decide Mykonos is the place for you to celebrate your honeymoon.
My Honeymoon Experience:
Food: The food, oh the food! It is amazing. I am not just saying that because of how much I absolutely love Mykonos. I seriously mean it when I say the food is fantastic. There are many restaurants, and all of them have their own unique menus. My all-time favorite restaurant is Oniro Bar Restaurant. It is the best for sunsets. The food and service are exceptional.
People: This is the down part. We find the people to not be very friendly and welcoming. Many of the locals seem fed up with all of the tourists. Anytime we are served by a great individual who is genuinely sweet we tend to tip them very well just to remind them that they are appreciated for their great service.
Staycations: Anywhere you stay in Mykonos will take your breath away. The first time we visited Mykonos, we stayed near Paradise Beach, and the location was perfect. It was convenient to get around, and it was right in front of Tropicana Club which was a plus because we didn’t have to drink and drive. The service at Tropicana Villas was amazing. They were super caring and communicated very well. They were at our service anytime we needed anything. I would definitely stay here again!
The second time we visited, we stayed at an Airbnb. It was a great location, and the view was amazing; however, I would not recommend it because nothing compares to the experience of staying in a hotel or villa that provides hotel-like services. I like to constantly have my bed made, have room service brought to my room, a spa nearby, and just have the overall experience of staying in a hotel. In my opinion, Mykonos is best when staying in a place that will make you feel like you are not missing out on anything.
Transportation: Transportation is my all-time favorite part of staying in Mykonos. It is so easy to get around. It literally takes no more than 30 minutes to get to the other side of the island. My husband and I rent ATVs, and they are the absolute best. It always feels like I am in a movie when I ride them. However, if you are thinking about renting an ATV, remember to be extremely cautious when driving them. The roads in Mykonos are extremely tiny, and sometimes they have no walls to keep you from tipping over the edge into nothing.
Safety: I feel as if Mykonos is one of the safest places on Earth. I would even travel solo here.
Things to do:
Enjoy all that Super Paradise Beach offers (paddle boarding, stand-up boarding, jet skiing, parasailing, and more).
Book a catamaran on “Get Your Guide” or “Tripadvisor.”
Visit the historical windmills and churches.
Spend a day driving around visiting different beaches.
Enjoy the nightlife in Mykonos.
Overall thoughts: Mykonos will always be my favorite place in the entire world. I recommend visiting Mykonos during the first two weeks in June. It is less crowded, and the weather is absolutely perfect. We visited Mykonos for the second time in September, and it was a bit chilly. We only had two sunny days in which to enjoy the water. I hope you enjoy your trip to Mykonos. Until next time, LovelyLivelyAlexis.
