Paris, France has always been a dream of mine! This trip was definitely not planned but I am grateful it happened the way that it did. Our flight back home from Mykonos, Greece was canceled, so we had to stay an extra day. The only flight that was available included a night in Paris, France. We had no idea what to expect since this part of the trip was not planned. My husband and I went with the flow, and we enjoyed it more than we expected. It was a night to remember. Here is what we decided to do for our one-night stay in “The City of Love”.
5:15 PM: Our flight arrived at the Paris Airport.
5:30 PM: Before we left Greece, we had packed a backpack with one outfit change each and our toiletries knowing that was all we needed and had sent the rest of our luggage all the way through to our final destination of Austin, TX. We carried just this backpack and took the 58-minute train ride to our hotel, Eiffel Petit Louvre. The walk from the train to our hotel took only five minutes.
6:45 PM: We arrived at our hotel, checked in, and got ready to enjoy the night in Paris.
7:30 PM: We walked around the 15th Arrondissement of Paris and explored the cute boutiques, well-known stores, fast food restaurants, and dine-in restaurants. We only had 30 minutes to walk around and do some shopping because many of the stores were closing. Everywhere we turned, we saw spots that were absolutely beautiful and photo-worthy. I was able to capture so many photos. Devastatingly, though, I lost all of our honeymoon photos that were loaded on our SD card, which led to tears being shed. However, I am sure if you look the 15th Arrondissement up online that you’ll want to visit.
8:15 PM: We next decided to walk to the Eiffel Tower, which was only a 15-minute walk away. We got lucky and were able to see it first without the lights and then with the lights on. It was truly so beautiful. We also felt safe walking at night. It is always a bit frightening when you are out in another country just wandering around at night, but we decided that sometimes risks are worth taking. We were right as it was so much fun. We definitely enjoyed our time at the Eiffel Tower. If you are hungry while you are there, hot dogs and other foods are available. If you want to shop, there are many little shops with touristy items for sale, but they do not take credit cards, so make sure you carry some cash.
9:30 PM: Time for dinner!! After searching all night, we decided to stop at “Le Gay Lussac” restaurant for dinner. It is a casual local brasserie with friendly staff. They say it is hard to find smiley people in Paris. However, everyone was smiling here. The servers spoke English very well. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Look it up and give it a try if you are in Paris looking for a place to eat for the night.
Overall, Paris was so beautiful and absolutely worth the visit! If you ever find yourself here, make the most of it, even if that's a one day stop! Until next time, LovelyLivelyAlexis.
